Vigna on Screen
Aparna M
Dr. Aparna M is an MBBS graduate and a passionate dancer-turned-instructor whose journey in classical dance began at the tender age of three. She completed her Arangetram in Bharatanatyam at Kairali Kalakendram, Dubai, under the mentorship of renowned Malayali actress and performer Shrimati Asha Sharreth. After years of dedicated training in Bharatanatyam, she relocated to Kerala, where she discovered her deep affinity for Mohiniyattom. This led her to pursue a diploma in the art form at the Kunjan Nambiar Memorial Kalapeedom, accredited by Kerala Kalamandalam, under the guidance of Guru Shrimati Kalamandalam Bindu Mohanakrishnan. Alongside her medical studies, Dr. Aparna continued to perform extensively, including participating in a Guinness World Record attempt for Mohiniyattom in Kodungalloor, Thrissur. She has had the rare privilege of receiving guidance from the legendary Mohiniyattom maestro Kalamandalam Hymavathy Amma and has also run her own dance institution. Her artistic journey includes appearances in dance documentaries such as Moonam Aattakaari (2016) and Sem Mann (2024), directed by Ghirija Jayaraj under Shastram Productions. Beyond performance, I’m the founder of Chilra, a platform dedicated to helping students in Chennai discover exclusive deals while learning financial literacy in a fun, engaging way. Whether I’m creating on stage or building in the startup world, everything I do is driven by a desire to connect—with people, with purpose, and with something bigger than myself. I’m constantly learning, evolving, and chasing the kind of work that leaves a lasting impact.
