We tried our best to bring the flavours of 1980s art based on Tamil cinema in the 80s.

Meet The Team

Iyal - Sowmya
Artist
Sowmya, an artist from Tamil Nadu with a Master’s degree in Electronic Media from Pondicherry University, embarked on a remarkable artistic journey on January 1, 2020, to visually interpret all 1,330 couplets of the Thirukkural. Over 1,330 consecutive days, she created a unique illustration for each couplet, using styles such as Art Nouveau, Surrealism, and Minimalism, rendered in pen and ink, watercolor, and poster color on watercolor paper. This monumental project, completed on August 22, 2023, culminated in a live painting event at the Madras Literary Society, where the final Kural was brought to life before a live audience. Divided into the three major themes of the Thirukkural—Aram (380 couplets), Porul (700), and Inbam (250)—Sowmya's work not only showcases artistic mastery but also serves as a profound engagement with Tamil philosophical thought. Her dedication has been widely recognized through features in The Hindu, Times of India, Thanthi TV, and BBC Tamil. Through her art, Sowmya bridges tradition and modernity, offering the Tamil community a visually rich and culturally resonant interpretation of one of its most treasured literary works, and ensuring the enduring wisdom of the Thirukkural continues to inspire generations to come.

Priyaa Praveen
Still Photography - Event
"Through my lens, I discover the world, its people, and the beauty of every fleeting moment." Priyaa Praveen is a passionate visual storyteller whose journey into photography began as a hobby and blossomed into a deeply fulfilling artistic pursuit. Her exploration started with street photography, where she captured raw, unscripted slices of everyday life. From there, her lens turned toward nature, documenting its serene and timeless beauty. As her craft evolved, Priyaa expanded into portrait, family, kids, newborn, and maternity photography—preserving milestones and emotions that matter most. Today, her focus has shifted to dance photography, a natural extension of her own journey as a Bharatanatyam dancer. In this space, she explores the poetry of movement, grace, and expression, weaving together her love for art, culture, and human emotion. For Priyaa, photography is not just about capturing images; it is a continuous journey of learning and connection through every frame.
